INTRODUCING THE FIRST-EVER 2019 GMC SIERRA AT4

If you’re looking for a full-size pickup whose athletic attitude and appearance match its aptitude and ability — and can confidently travel off-road without sacrificing the refinement and technologies of a GMC — look no further than the 2019 GMC Sierra AT4.

Marking the introduction of GMC’s new AT4 sub-brand, the Sierra AT4 is purpose-built to deliver distinctive style, advanced technologies, and off-road capability, making it a premium-grade full-size pickup that’s perfectly at home on the open road or off the beaten path.

DARK, DISTINGUISHED APPEARANCE

Sierra AT4 builds off the bold, chiselled forms of the Next Generation 2019 Sierra, and creates a personality of its own through a number of unique visual cues.

The Sierra AT4 has a unique look driven by distinctive exterior finishes and modern detailing. The front and rear bumpers and the grille surround are finished in body colour, while the bold grille design with its rugged, knurled texture is finished in black chrome set off by Sierra’s bold, C-shaped LED signature lighting.

Additional accent details such as the LED fog lamp bezels and fender badge continue the use of black chrome, while a premium yet distinctly modern high-gloss black finish is applied to the window trim, mirror caps and skid plate. Touches of red complete the package and make the AT4 stand out with subtle detailing found in the Sierra’s all-new AT4 signature emblems and bold, unique vertical tow hooks. All the exterior details create a distinct and modern personality for the AT4 that projects GMC confidence and capability.

A similar appearance continues within Sierra AT4’s interior. The Sierra AT4 sports a unique darkened trim and decor, including dark-tinted and textured real aluminum finishes on the steering wheel, centre stack and sill plates, along with unique Jet Black/Kalahari accents and live stitching. Leather-appointed seating with embroidered AT4 logo on the headrests and rubber floor liners are standard, which supports the AT4’s mission of delivering capability with uncompromising durability and comfort to customers with active lifestyles.

Likewise, Sierra AT4’s interior is equally purposeful. For instance, the rear seat backs can open to reveal a pair of 10-litre rectangular storage spaces, which are large enough to store tablets, tie-down cords, or other personal accessories. Additionally, a large 23.6-litre storage tray underneath the second-row seat offers space to secure other belongings while on the go.

AUTHENTIC OFF-ROAD CAPABILITY

Sierra AT4’s tall stance is also a sign of its off-road capability. Compared to other 2019 Sierras, the Sierra AT4’s suspension rides 2” higher, providing added ground clearance for off-road driving. Unlike aftermarket lift kits, Sierra AT4’s factory-installed suspension was fully designed and validated by GMC engineers, allowing it to deliver the refined ride quality and durability expected of a GMC.

Sierra AT4’s off-road chops don’t end there. Sierra AT4 models include four-wheel drive as standard equipment, with a two-speed transfer case that includes low-range four-wheel drive gearing for when conditions turn extremely tough. Sierra AT4 also includes off-road tuned Rancho® monotube shock absorbers, a locking rear differential, and hill descent control, which leverages anti-lock braking technology to help provide a smooth, controlled descent in uneven terrain without the driver needing to repeatedly push the brake pedal.

Sierra AT4 is equipped with a 5.3L V8 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission standard equipment, while either a 6.2L V8 or a new 3.0L inline-six turbo-diesel will be available as optional equipment.

We didn’t stop there – we brought innovative technology to Sierra AT4 to both enhance capability and elevate driver confidence off-road. Some of these features include:

  • Traction Select System: Allows the driver to choose from preset drive modes that have been tailored for a variety of different terrain or weather conditions. Selecting one of these modes adjusts Sierra’s transmission shift points, throttle mapping, and other systems to optimize performance for the situation at hand.
  • Segment-first1 available Multi-Colour Head-Up Display: Projects key, customizable vehicle data, including an off-road inclinometer, on the windshield in a 3 x 7-inch display. The off-road inclinometer shows the fore-and-aft tilt, front tire angle, and left-and-right tilt.
  • Surround Vision: Available on Sierra AT4 and provides the driver with a “bird’s eye” view through an overhead image on the infotainment screen and can prove useful when slowly manoeuvering in tight quarters — be it within a parking garage or out on a challenging trail.

VERSATILE CARGO CAPABILITY

Sierra AT4 was designed from square one to get you and your gear — be it camping equipment, mountain bikes, motorcycles, or beyond — exactly where you need to go.

The 2019 Sierra AT4 offers best-in-class1 cargo box volume2 – 1781 L (62.9 cu. ft.) on short-box models and 2523 L (89.1 cu. ft.) on standard-box models. Sierra’s available 5.8-foot pickup box actually offers more cargo volume than Ford or Ram’s 6.5-foot-long standard boxes. Also located in the rear is a 110V outlet to supply power to the tools and supplies needed for a day at the campsite or trails. Available GearOn rails within the box allow for bike racks, kayak carriers and other accessories to be installed or adjusted quickly and easily. The rails’ integrated position makes cargo more accessible and frees up space in the rest of the box.

Sierra AT4 also incorporates the industry-first GMC MultiProTM Tailgate. MultiProTM Tailgate is the most innovative pickup tailgate ever with six unique functions and positions, offering enhanced second-tier loading and load-stop solutions, and easier access to items in the box. Drop the main tailgate and the minor tailgate, and you can walk large items straight into the cargo bed. Drop both the primary and inner tailgates and unfold both the step and assist handle to make climbing into the bed – even with AT4’s tall ride height – simple and straightforward.

The 2019 Sierra AT4 will offer, later in the model year, an available GMC exclusive, industry-first carbon fibre composite box – the CarbonPro – developed to increase durability, efficiency and functionality of the truck. It replaces the standard steel inner panels and floor with a lightweight, purpose-designed carbon fibre composite material that offers best-in-class1 dent, scratch and corrosion resistance, allowing it to be the most durable pickup box in the segment1. CarbonPro was also designed with the active off-roader in mind – three molded-in sections for wheels within the front bulkhead, along with additional tie-down hooks in the corners and centre bulkhead, help ease loading and securing motorcycles, dirt bikes, or ATVs.
