Movember : Our team is mobilizing for men's health

Chevrolet Buick GMC and Cadillac Ile-Perrot teams decided to mobilize this year to promote the physical and mental health of men, participating in Movember.

The concept of Movember is simple. Men are invited to raise funds throughout the month of November, to support four causes associated with men's health. In order to demonstrate their commitment and encourage those around them to donate generously, participants let their mustaches grow throughout the month of November.

Essential causes 

The Movember Foundation wishes to act on 4 issues related to men's health. First, it helps fund research for treatments for testicular cancer and prostate cancer, as well as prevention initiatives. Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men. According to the Canadian Cancer Society, it is the third leading cause of cancer deaths in Canada. 

Movember's mission is also to highlight another aspect of men's everyday life: mental health. The foundation funds various mental health programs and is mandated to make men's suicide a topic of social discussion. The cause is crucial: three out of four suicides are committed by men.

Team spirit 

On November 1st, the Le Loft Vaudreuil team was at Cadillac Ile-Perrot to trim the participants' mustaches, in order to start the month of November well. In total, 29 men from Chevrolet Buick GMC and Cadillac joined the event, expressing their support for men's health. 

Is Movember exclusively for men? Absolutely not ! Two "Mo Sista" joined the team, Melina Racine and Maria Desrochers. The two women decided to get involved to show their support for the cause. They believe it is important for women to support initiatives that promote men’s health, as much as they appreciate the support of men in causes such as breast cancer. Solidarity is the watchword!  

Together, the team set the goal of raising $ 5,000 for the cause. The support of family members, friends, our customers and all members of the community will be necessary to achieve this ambitious goal. A donation, no matter the amount, makes all the difference.
